Foundation of Design: Representation

Project: THE FLOWER

The photograph illustrates a highlighted midpoint, with hierarchical depth emanating from the bottom left corner and extending diagonally towards the bottom right corner and the upper left corner, gradually diminishing towards the upper right corner. The polaroid image exhibits blurriness and tilt, indicating editing via Photoshop software. Additionally, delineated lines and colored elements enhance clarity. A palette comprising five distinct colors, including black, green, red, pink, and purple, contributes to a vibrant and lucid visual presentation.

Project: BELLINI 2.0

The fabric sample demonstrates a slightly horizontal flow with a clockwise tilt from the top right to the top left, as indicated by an orange line. The fabric’s crests align with the v-shape in this dominant vertical direction. Notably, the fabric features three primary crests: a prominent lower crest on the bottom characterized by intricate folds and a flatter crest on the top that spreads to the right and left direction. Thus, the central focus of my concept revolves around highlighting these two distinct crests and establishing visual contrast between them. In contrast, the terrain shares significant differences with the fabric sample, particularly in its predominantly horizontal flow from the right top corner to the middle corner. Employing an isometric perspective (SW) represents these similarities. The highest point of the terrain is situated in the top centre area, highlighted in a pink line. Additionally, the highlight and highest area in both the fabric sample and the terrain correspond, creating a cohesive visual connection between the two elements. After finalizing the concept, I conducted experiments aimed at integrating four crucial elements—pyramid shapes, density, vertical height, and direction—into the hybrid design. In the grid analysis, I manipulated points to create variations in elevation, thus emphasizing the design’s peaks. Moreover, I adjusted the grid layout to intro.

Project: THINCITIES1 - ISAURA

In the narrative, I visualized Isaura as a city enveloped by water. I aimed to integrate fluid elements to create a intricate upward spiral, drawing inspiration from the quote “They succeed in drawing up water, as far as the city extends, and no farther.” Additionally, I portrayed two separate cities, one near an underground lake and the other high in the sky representing “two forms of religion.”
